God Will Heal Your Broken or Grieving Heart, If You Let Him

''The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.'' - Psalm 34:18

''Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.'' - Matthew 5:4

''Christ will never abandon those for whom He has paid the ransom of His own life. Could our spiritual vision be quickened, we [would] see souls bowed under oppression and burdened with grief, pressed as a cart beneath sheaves, and ready to die in discouragement.''

''We [would] see angels flying quickly to the aid of these tempted ones, forcing back the hosts of evil that encompass them, and placing their feet on the sure foundation.'' - Prophets and Kings, Ch. 13: What Doest Thou Here?, Pg. 176

''I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will [soon] hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live...Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear His voice and come out.'' - John 5:25,28,29

''He who stood beside the sorrowing mother at the gate of Nain, watches with every mourning one beside the bier (coffin). He is touched with sympathy for our grief. His heart, that loved and pitied, is a heart of unchangeable tenderness.''

''Jesus comforts our sorrow for the dead with a message of infinite hope: 'I will ransom them from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be your plagues; O grave, I will be your destruction.' Hosea 13:4. 'I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore,...and have the keys of the grave and of death.' Revelation 1:18.'' - The Desire of Ages, Ch. 32: The Centurion, Pgs. 319, 320

''Brothers [and sisters], we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men [and women], who have no hope.''

''We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus [to heaven] those who have fallen asleep in Him. According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.''

''For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.''

''After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage each other with these words.'' - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

''Christ is coming with clouds and with great glory. A multitude of shining angels will attend Him. He will come to raise the dead, and to change the living saints from glory to glory. He will come to honor those who have loved Him, and kept His commandments, and to take them to Himself. He has not forgotten them nor His promise. There will be a relinking of the family chain.''

''When we look upon our dead, we may think of the morning when the trump of God shall sound, when 'the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.' 1 Corinthians 15:52.''

''A little longer, and we shall see the King in His beauty. A little longer, and He will wipe all tears from our eyes. A little longer, and He will present us 'faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.' Jude 24.''

''Wherefore, when He gave the signs of His coming He said, 'When these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.' '' - The Desire of Ages, Ch. 69: ''On the Mount of Olives,'' Pg. 632

''A Father of the fatherless and a Judge of the widows, is God...'' - Psalms 68:5

''Leave your fatherless children, I will preserve them alive, and let your widows trust in Me.'' - Jeremiah 49:11

''The widow and the fatherless are the objects of the Lord's special care...Many a father, when [forced] to part from his loved ones, has died resting in faith upon God's promise to care for them.''

''The Lord provides for the widow and the fatherless, not by a miracle in sending manna from heaven, not by sending ravens to bring them food; but by a miracle upon human hearts, expelling selfishness, and unsealing the fountains of Christlike love.''

''The afflicted and bereaved ones He commits to His followers as a precious trust. They have the very strongest claim upon our sympathy.''

''In homes supplied with life's comforts, in bins and granaries filled with the yield of abundant harvests, in warehouses stocked with the products of the loom, and vaults stored with gold and silver, God has supplied means for the sustenance of these needy ones. He calls upon us to be channels of His bounty.''

''Then there are the multitudes of children who have been wholly deprived of the guidance of parents and the subduing influence of a Christian home. Let Christians open their hearts and homes to these helpless ones.''

''The work that God has committed to them as an individual duty should not be turned over to some benevolent institution, or left to the chances of the world's charity.''

''If the children have no relatives able to give them care, let the members of the church provide homes for them. He who made us ordained that we should be associated in families, and the child nature will develop best in the loving atmosphere of a Christian home.''

''Many who have no children of their own could do a good work in caring for the children of others...let them give their attention to little children, whose characters they may fashion after the divine similitude.''

''Place your love upon the homeless members of the human family. See how many of these children you can bring up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Many would thus be greatly benefited themselves.'' - The Ministry of Healing, Ch. 13: The Helpless Poor, Pg. 203
