Do you think you'll go to heaven because you have a ''good'' heart, or are a ''good'' person? Did you know that with God, just having a ''good'' heart or just being a ''good'' person isn't enough? That the Christian life is not just about: forgiveness, or trying to be a good person, or like Jesus, or learning the Bible backwards and forwards?
It's true. Even though some misery in this life is unfortunately unavoidable, God wants us to avoid the misery that our sins cause us and others to suffer. Because of that, He designed the Christian life to also be a lifelong process of...
...1) carefully examining our motives, and asking God to reveal ones we can't see, every day for the rest of our lives, 2) letting Jesus heal our wounded hearts, not only through daily Bible study and prayer, but also through research-based, Bible-supported therapists, counselors and support groups and 3) overcoming our character defects and known sin through a close relationship and friendship with God and faith in Jesus' grace, or righteousness.
That's right. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins and gave us His Holy Spirit not only to fit us for heaven so we can live forever with Him in true, lasting peace and happiness. He also paid it and gave us His Holy Spirit so that through filling our hearts and minds with His righteousness and living His righteous life in us, we can still truly enjoy this life as well, in spite of all the misery we can't avoid.
Ever wonder why some Christians, since Jesus was on earth, were or are at best hypocritical, and at worst cruel and opressive? False assumptions, misconceptions, and careless, superficial or nonexistent Bible study and prayer create judgemental, self-righteous or sincere, yet dishonest, hypocritical people who have no sense of their responsibility to their fellow human beings, to animals and the environment...
...because they cause such people to focus on fixing themselves on the outside, while ignoring their condition on the inside, and if traumatized or abused, the damage from their past. As a result, these things are unfortunately not only unhelpful, but very damaging. Not only emotionally and spiritually, but also physically.
Research done at the University of London and the work of Dr. Hans Eysneck, suggest that unresolved emotional issues are six times more predictive of coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and diabetes than is a poor diet or lack of exercise.
Well, true religion, true Christianity, through careful, prayerful, daily Bible study, sincere, humble prayer throughout the day, and daily examination and acceptance of our true condition inside creates people who are honest, honorable, compassionate, accountable to their fellow human beings and conscientious stewards of their time, money and other talents, and of animals and the environment.
As a result, true religion, true Christianity, makes church what God meant it to be, a safe haven for those who are hurting and sick inside and recovering from addictions, abuse and trauma...
...because it's about dealing with our motives and the damage from our past and / or genes tainted by our ancestors' dysfunctional behavior, negative emotions and stress (we all have them, some more tainted than others), fixing, even healing us on the inside and making us whole, healthy and happy again.
That's why some people at one extreme believe that all we need is God's help, without any medical care. Others believe all psychology, even genuinely Christian psychology is to be rejected because it's humanistic and unbiblical (and granted, some ''Christian'' psychology is). Still others believe that mental illness is nothing more than a myth.
But I believe a lifelong, research-based, Bible-supported recovery program like the one I recommend and have linked to, is as necessary as daily Bible study and prayer for a happy and satisfying life, both for those who suffered trauma, some form of abuse as a child, and / or suffer from addictions, and doesn't that include virtually all of us?
Why do I think it's necessary for everyone? Because we all have inherited and cultivated defects in our character, and because our hearts and minds are as subject to God's natural laws as are our bodies.
I believe God holds us responsible for studying those laws, from cause to effect, and applying what we've learned, and believe it's the only real and effective way, combined with daily Bible study and prayer, that we can overcome the hereditary and cultivated defects in our character which are causing the dysfunctional and destructive behavior that's making us so unhappy and miserable, and unfit for heaven.
That, along with caring for our fellow human beings, animals and the environment, and sharing the good news of the gospel (God's free gift of forgiveness, redemption, or recovery, and eternal life) is what the Christian life is all about.
And, I believe, it's the only real and effective way to break the generational cycle of dysfunctional and destructive behavior, so we, our children and our grandchildren, if or when we have any, can be restored to the image of our Maker and live truly happy, satisfying and fulfilling lives and be fit for heaven.
''Not everything believed [to be] a biblical truth is truly biblical. The authors expose 12 commonly accepted beliefs that cause bondage rather than liberty. They explain how nuggets of truth become cornerstones for error when wrongly understood, and they help build solid scriptural foundations that produce emotional freedom. To watch or listen to the following audio and video programs, you'll need one of these media players:
To make your time visiting these Web Sites more efficient and enjoyable, use a Mozilla-based browser. For one, it's fast and stable, and for another, it has a tab feature that lets you load as many web pages as you want in the background, while reading another web page. If you have a slow connection, the tab feature will save you a lot of time.
A third reason to use a Mozilla-based browser is that you can increase the size of the text on a web page when you can't do it in the Internet Explorer browser (most web pages with small text are like that now). To make the text bigger, press the Ctrl and Plus/Equals keys at the same time.
The following ''Skip This Category'' links are for the benefit of visitors using a screen reader so they don't have to hear the whole list of links in a category before hearing the next category.
I try to keep the links updated, but some of the Web Sites' managers keep moving their web pages around every few weeks or months, so you may get an error page when you click on some of these links. If you come across any broken links, please let me know, and I''ll fix them as soon as I can.
You may want to save this web page to your computer so you can check out some of these links later on, and because it'll save you some time. (I have so many links on this page now that it takes 7 or more seconds to download every time you view it on my Web Site with a 56K or slower connection.) But since I'll be updating the broken links, be sure to resave this web page every once in a while.

As you know all too well, life can be very emotionally painful. You need only live or listen to someone else's experience to be reminded of that.
And you never know when your life could become so emotionally painful that either you might try to end it or your body might give out and you could die from a deadly disease or broken heart caused by the stress that emotional pain creates. So you need to get emotionally healthy if you want to avoid that.
But even if your life never gets to that point, I may not need to tell you how unbearable all that emotional pain can be.
If you have a negative image of God, such as seeing Him as a tyrant, or have thoughts, feelings and behaviors which have kept you bound in fear, anger, sadness, or feelings of worthlessness, it's possible you suffered trauma or abuse in some way as a child, while your mind was developing.
If as a child you were abused, knowingly or unknowingly by abusive, dysfunctional people - and you may not be aware that you were...
...that abuse damaged your developing mind and character in such a way that you now react to stressful situations and behaviors with the unhealthy emotions you had as a wounded, abused child and maybe also one or more addictions or mental disorders, instead of responding with the emotions of a mature, healthy adult.
Whether your mind and character were damaged by trauma; abuse as a child, teen or adult; your parents' - especially your mother's - dysfunctional behaviors, negative emotions and stress while you were growing in her womb; or by such things your grandparents, great-grandparents or earlier ancestors tainted your genes with (we all inherited these tainted genes, unfortunately, some more tainted than others)...
...always putting off dealing with the damage till tomorrow, or ignoring it, will keep you from getting and staying emotionally, physically and spiritually healthy, and cause you to miss out on a truly wonderful, happy and satisfying life that God wants very much for you to experience and enjoy.
But I believe humanistic therapy programs are at best unhelpful, and at worst very damaging. Even 12-step programs, I believe, do not achieve as complete healing as is needed. And I truly believe that hypnosis opens a door that gives Satan direct access to the whole mind, instead of just the conscience, of both the hypnotist and the patient, and must be avoided at all costs, since your very eternal destiny is at stake.
Are you willing to take that risk? Are you sure you want to keep living with the kinds of emotional pain that are unnecessary and avoidable? Are you sure you want to keep living with a negative image of God, when He can make your life truly happy and satisfying?
If you want true and complete healing, first attend or buy the research-based, Bible-supported weekend seminar ''Binding the Wounds'' on DVD by internationally respected counselors Drs. Ron and Nancy Rockey, to learn the four primary steps which are necessary to bring emotional and spiritual recovery and victory, and to educate yourself about what behaviors constitute abuse.
Then, if you were traumatized or abused, I strongly encourage you to attend or buy the 22-week ''Binding the Wounds'' follow-up recovery program on DVD (also Bible-based and research-supported and the precursor to The Journey seminar)...
...or for more in-depth information, attend or buy all 4 segments of The Journey, their main seminar)...
...deal with the damage to your mind and character caused by trauma, knowingly or unknowingly abusive, dysfunctional parents, teachers, ministers / clergy, friends, co-workers, strangers, etc., or tainted genes...
...and get freed from those thoughts, feelings and behaviors which have kept you bound in fear, anger, sadness, or feelings of worthlessness. If you're teachable, you're fixable!
Get spiritually healthy. It'll help get you emotionally healthy like nothing else - except a lifelong, research-based, Bible-supported recovery program - can, because only having God in your heart and life can take away that emptiness, that restlessness you still feel, even with typical recovery programs. Unless you give God first place your life, you'll never feel fully satisfied, complete or at peace.
Want to get freed from those thoughts, feelings and behaviors which have kept you bound in fear, anger, sadness, or feelings of worthlessness? Please, PLEASE check out the how to live a long, happy and healthy life category to learn more.

In spite of what you may have heard, science has shown our bodies and minds need a significant amount of carbs, as well as low body fat, to be healthy.
And as strange as it may seem, this diet allows you to eat a moderate or even large amount of carbs (twice a week when losing weight and 3 or 4 times a week when maintaining your weight, in addition to the daily low carb amount) while also telling your body's powerful hormones to burn fat naturally and healthfully, as long as you go with a vegetarian protein source. Learn why you should seriously consider avoiding meat.

2. ...life can be short. We need only listen to the news or lose a loved one to be painfully reminded of that. We never know when our lives might end, so always putting off getting right with God till tomorrow could cost you an eternity of wonderful, blissful happiness that God wants very much for you to experience and enjoy.
Are you willing to take that risk? Because behaving badly won't be what'll cause some to lose out on eternity with God. It'll be failing to chose God rather than self. Not just once in their life, but every day. And eternity wouldn't be the same without you. So please, PLEASE get right with God now, while you still can.
Take one of the Bible courses on my Christian Links page to learn about God, then when you've completed the Bible course, give your heart, mind and life to God that same day. Don't put it off. Do it that same day, while you still can. Believe me. You won't regret it.
In fact, depending on your childhood and your present situation, if you've been carrying around a heavy burden, you just may feel it go away and feel a deep sense of peace in its place, and enjoy getting to know the most wonderful, loving Person in the universe.
But even if you don't experience that right away, and need to deal first with the damage caused by trauma, abuse or genes tainted by your ancestors' dysfunctional behavior, negative emotions and stress, if you're teachable, you will eventually!
Note: There are some things you need to know before studying the Bible. (To take a Bible course, click on ''What does the Bible say about...?'' and on ''What does Bible Prophecy say about your future?'')
Then find and join a group of fellow, fallible, human Christians to worship God with, who's beliefs are based on the Bible, instead of the traditions of well-meaning, but misguided men, and who are committed and active in applying God's biblical truths in their daily lives.
Then, to let your community know you've made the decision to leave your old life behind and start a new life with God, get baptized. Do you have to be perfect to be baptized? No, but you do have to be committed to doing God's will for baptism to be meaningful.
Baptism's absence in the second part of Mark 16:16 shows that only faith that causes us to be committed to doing God's will is necessary for salvation. But its inclusion with faith in John 3:5 and the first part of Mark 16:16 shows that such a faith will - barring special circumstances, like the thief on the cross, that make it impossible - cause all who have it to get baptized to show their commitment to doing God's will.
Never forget that your fellow Christians aren't perfect! If we were, we wouldn't need God to love others unconditionally, including our enemies, or to live forever with Him! There are too many people, unfortunately, who have chosen to not have anything to do with God because of how they've seen or heard so-called Christians act.
Don't let yourself be one of them. Don't judge God by His followers. Give Him a real, honest chance.
Study the Bible every morning for the rest of your life. That's right. Don't just read it. Instead, study it to learn more about God, to help you learn right from wrong, to give you the power to resist the temptation to do wrong (in thought as well as in act), to replace your conditional love-prone character with God's unconditional love-filled character, and to keep your heart and mind close to God.
Some of the Bible's truths are easy to find, but many aren't. Search for its hidden truths as you would dig for hidden treasure.
Give your heart and life to God each day. Talk to Him in prayer as you would to your best friend, and share with Him all your joys, your sorrows, your worries and concerns.
Every month, give back to God the 10 percent of your income, the tithe, that belongs to Him. It's needed to spread the good news of Jesus' free and infinite gift, and to warn people before they lose out on eternity.
God will richly bless you in doing so. Sometimes in income, and at least in ever-increasing peace and happiness. In fact, test God and see if He doesn't bless you even more after giving Him more than 10 percent of your income in tithe, not counting your offering.
To the extent God has blessed you, give accordingly in both tithe and offering when the offering plate is passed to you in church, or by mail if you're unable to attend. skip
As you learn about God in your study of the Bible and in your personal life, tell others daily, if you can, what you've learned, being very careful to do it in a loving, tactful way, instead of forcing it on them and threatening them with hell if they don't want to listen.
After all, people will always judge God by our behavior, whether we like it or not, and you don't want to turn them off, if you can help it, about God and make them lose the opportunity to learn what God has done for you.
In the mean time, watch what you eat, drink, read, watch and listen to. Even what you think, say and do, and who you hang out with. They all have a powerful effect on your ability to stay faithful to your relationship with God.
That's right. Building a relationship with God, staying faithful to Him instead of yourself, and securing eternal life with Him won't be a walk in the park. Unlike what some Christians believe, it won't be just a matter of ''getting saved.'' It'll take work and dedication, as any relationship does, but such effort will be infinitely rewarding, and will be do-able (possible) if you deal with the damage caused by dysfunctional parents, teachers, ministers / clergy, friends, co-workers, strangers, etc., if you've suffered such damage;
and keep an eye...
1) on the reward that's waiting for us if we do what it takes to stay faithful to God;
2) on the nature of the amazing sacrifice made 2000 years ago by our infinitely loving Savior, who's waiting eagerly to give all of us our reward, if we'll accept His amazing sacrifice for us and give Him our hearts, minds and lives;
3) on how completely powerless His sacrifice shows us to be in earning eternal life on our own, and in doing even one good deed, without our Savior's grace, thereby revealing how completely dependent we are on Him for developing a truly selfless character and securing eternal life; and...
4) on the true nature of our Savior, who took an infinite risk and paid an infinite price for our eternal destiny, and who STILL would've taken that risk and paid that price even if you were the only person on Earth.
Test God and see if He isn't all that you want Him to be and more, and if He won't indeed give you everything you really need to be truly happy, and do whatever it takes to help you develop a selfless, unconditionally loving, Christlike character and ultimately gain eternal life someday very soon.
Just remember that without daily Bible study and prayer and sharing with others what you've learned about God, your relationship with God will eventually wither and die. So spend time with Him every morning, and get to know the most wonderful, loving, forgiving and merciful Person you'll ever know.
Do these things faithfully every day, and your life will never be the same again. You'll fall in love with our real God, the God who loves us unconditionally and is eager to forgive us and restore us to health, happiness and deep, lasting peace. skip
