You're Not Alone in More Ways Than One

Not only are there others around the world who are going through or have gone through what you're experiencing, who understand your suffering and hurting, and who want to listen to your problems and help you get through your difficult times, but there are also unseen beings working tirelessly and lovingly in our behalf, whom God wants us to be mindful of.

''[Jacob] had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.'' - Genesis 28:12

''Angels are sent on missions of mercy to the children of God. To Abraham, with promises of blessing; to the gates of Sodom, to rescue righteous Lot from its fiery doom; to Elijah, as he was about to perish from weariness and hunger in the desert; to Elisha, with chariots and horses of fire surrounding the little town where he was shut in by his foes; to Daniel, while seeking divine wisdom in the court of a heathen king, or abandoned to become the lions' prey;...''

''...to Peter, doomed to death in Herod's dungeon; to the prisoners at Philippi; to Paul and His companions in the night of tempest on the sea; to open the mind of Cornelius to receive the gospel; to dispatch Peter with the message of salvation to the Gentile strange - thus holy angels have, in all ages, ministered to God's people.''

''God's people, exposed to the deceptive power and unsleeping malice of the prince of darkness, and in conflict with all the forces of evil, are assured of the unceasing guardianship of heavenly angels. Nor is such assurance given without need.''

''If God has granted to His children promise of grace and protection, it is because there are mighty agencies of evil to be met - agencies numerous, determined, and untiring, of whose malignity and power none can safely be ignorant or unheeding.''

''None are in greater danger from the influence of evil spirits than those who, notwithstanding the direct and ample testimony of the Scriptures, deny the existence and agency of the devil and his angels. So long as we are ignorant of their wiles, they have almost inconceivable advantage; many give heed to their suggestions while they suppose themselves to be following the dictates of their own wisdom.''

''This is why, as we approach the close of time, when Satan is to work with greatest power to deceive and destroy, he spreads everywhere the belief that he does not exist. It is his policy to conceal himself and his manner of working.''

''The world's Redeemer would not have [us] in ignorance of Satan's devices. The vast confederacy of evil is arrayed against those who would overcome; but Christ would have us look to the things that are not seen, to the armies of heaven that encamp round about those who love God, to deliver them.'' - FW, Ch. 12, ''Appropriating the Righteousness of Christ,'' Pg. 93

''We are informed in Scripture as to the number, and the power and glory, of the heavenly beings, of their connection with the government of God, and also of their relation to the work of redemption. 'The Lord has prepared His throne in the heavens; and His kingdom rules over all.' ''

''And, says the prophet, 'I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne.' In the presence chamber of the King of kings they wait - 'angels, that excel in strength,' 'ministers of His, that do His pleasure,' 'hearkening unto the voice of His word.' - Psalm 103:19-21; Revelation 5:11''

'' 'You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like the morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid...'' - Job 11:16-20''

''The angel of the Lord guards all who respect, worship and obey Him, and He delivers them.'' - Psalm 34:7

''God will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways'' - Psalm 91:11

''From what dangers, seen and unseen, we have been preserved through the interposition of the angels, we shall never know, until in the light of eternity we see the providences of God.'' - The Desire of Ages, Ch. 24: ''Is Not This the Carpenter's Son?,'' Pg. 240

''Would that the human eye could catch glimpses of the service of the angels! Would that the imagination could grasp and dwell upon the rich, the glorious service of the angels of God and the conflicts in which they engage in behalf of men[, women and children] to protect, to lead, to win, and to draw them from Satan's snares. How different would be the conduct, the religious sentiment!'' - Faith and Works (FW), Ch. 1, Pg. 23

''Christ will never abandon those for whom He has paid the ransom of His own life. Could our spiritual vision be quickened, we [would] see souls bowed under oppression and burdened with grief, pressed as a cart beneath sheaves, and ready to die in discouragement.''

''We [would] see angels flying quickly to the aid of these tempted ones, forcing back the hosts of evil that encompass them, and placing their feet on the sure foundation.'' - Prophets and Kings, Ch. 13: ''What Doest Thou Here?,'' Pg. 176

''The angels of heaven are interested in behalf of man. The power of Omnipotence is at the service of those who trust in God. The Father accepts the righteousness of Christ in behalf of His followers, and they are surrounded with light and holiness which Satan cannot penetrate.''

''The voice of the Captain of our salvation speaks to His followers, saying, '' 'Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.' I am your defense; advance to victory.' '' '' - FW, Ch. 12, ''Appropriating the Righteousness of Christ,'' Pg. 93

''The Christian should often review his [or her] past and recall with gratitude the precious deliverances that God has wrought for him, supporting him in trial, opening ways before him when all seemed dark and forbidding, refreshing him when ready to faint.''

''He [or she] should recognize all of them as evidences of the watchcare of heavenly angels. In view of these innumerable blessings he should often ask, with subdued and grateful heart, 'What shall I render unto the Lord for all His benefits toward me?' ''

''Our time, our talents, our property, should be sacredly devoted to Him who has given us these blessings in trust.''

''Whenever a special deliverance is wrought in our behalf, or new and unexpected favors are granted us, we should acknowledge God's goodness, not only by expressing gratitude in words, but, like Jacob, by gifts and offerings to His cause. As we are continually receiving the blessings of God, so we are to be continually giving.'' - Patriarchs and Prophets, Ch. 17: ''Jacob's Flight and Exile,'' Pg. 93

Songs of Hope

''There are days, I know, when you get so discouraged,
It seems that all hope is gone.
But There's One Who can give you courage,
And strength to carry on.''

''Never give up, Jesus is coming!
It's the darkest just before dawn.
Never give up, Jesus is coming!
Never give up, Keep holding on.''

''This old world, I know, can't last much longer,
And sin will soon pass away.
But my faith in God simply keeps growing stronger,
For Jesus is coming someday!''

''Never give up, Jesus is coming!
It's the darkest just before dawn.
Never give up, Jesus is coming!
Never give up, Keep holding on.''

- A Song by Chuck Fulmore

''What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.''

''Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer.''

''Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge;
take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he'll take and shield thee;
thou wilt find a solace there.''

- A Hymn by John M. Scriven & Charles C. Converse
